About Us
Sewing the Seeds was founded in winter 2004. In spring 2005, the shop at 213, (Higher) Union Street opened its doors for the first time to enthusiastic quilters and fabriholics.
In July 2010 we have relocated to no 2, Upside Station Buildings in Torquay Railway Station close to the beautiful Torquay seafront. The Upside Station buildings are located on the rear of the station off Solsbro Road.
What started as a little patchwork shop has steadily grown into a well established small business with a variety of finest fabrics for patchworkers, quilters, and textiles artists. We stock hundreds of bolts of material from Hoffmann, Amy Butler, Kaffe Fassett, Rowan, Kaufman,Elizabeth's Studio,Exclusively Quilters, Moda, RJR, Princess Mirah, Makower, Benartex, SPX plus jelly rolls, layer cakes, charm packs etc.
At the heart of Sewing the Seeds are our courses and workshops. A strong emphasis lies on our 10 weeks Beginners course conducted by dear Pat Kaariainen. We also offer workshops and courses for advanced level patchworkers and on specialist subjects with our other teachers Jane Hopkins and Dawn Cameron-Dick.
We are proud of our relaxed atmosphere in which we combine friendliness with professionalism. Newcomers to the world of sewing are especially welcome for they are very gently nudged into the right direction.
Our opening hours are: (for personal callers at our shop)Tuesdays - Fridays 10am - 1 pm & 2 pm - 5:00 pm;Saturdays 10 am - 1 pm.
